Where does it live, does my computer have to stay on, and what do I install?
Most of it runs in the cloud and keeps working with your laptop closed: follow-up, reminders, ad checks and the morning brief. Only tasks that touch files or a browser on your own computer need it on, and those are marked so you know which ones. There is very little to install, usually one desktop app and your normal logins.
Two kinds of work
Cloud work runs on its own servers, on a schedule, whether your computer is on or not. Lead follow-up, appointment reminders, the daily ad check, the weekly numbers and the morning brief all live here.
Computer work needs your machine because it uses files on your computer or a website you are signed into. These tasks are marked "requires this computer" so you know which ones they are. If your laptop is asleep at that hour, the task can't run, so the morning brief lists what ran and what didn't.
What we install
- The desktop app, signed into your account.
- Connections to the tools you already use: calendar, email, CRM, ad accounts. You sign in. We never ask for your passwords.
- For the computer tasks, a work machine left on with the screen allowed to sleep, not the whole computer.
Where things are, after
Every role has a handoff file: what it does, when it runs, where its output goes. "Where did you put it?" has a written answer. You own the files and the setup.
Questions around the fire
Do I need a Mac?
No. The cloud work doesn't care what computer you have. The desktop app runs on Mac and Windows.
What happens if my laptop is off when a task runs?
Cloud tasks run anyway. Computer tasks miss that run, and the brief shows which ones did, so you can rerun them.
Can I see what ran and what didn't?
Yes. The morning brief includes what ran, what failed and why.
